Apply to Participate in Fall 2010 EducationUSA Delegations to Cyprus/Turkey, Nigeria/South Africa or Ecuador/Peru
May 2010
Building on the success of the inaugural EducationUSA higher education delegation to Indonesia in December 2009, the College Board announces three more Reconnect-Plus delegations to take place in September and October 2010. One delegation will travel to Cyprus and Turkey, one will visit Ecuador and Peru, and one will go to Nigeria and South Africa. Representatives of accredited U.S. colleges and universities are invited to apply to join one of these small groups who will visit these three regions of the world as part of a U.S. Department of State initiative to encourage linkages and exchanges with nations that do not normally appear in the top 10 list of student mobility.
Members of the delegations will conduct information sessions and workshops for students, families and educators throughout the selected countries to explain the U.S. higher education admission process, academic programs and exchange initiatives. They also will visit EducationUSA advising centers and local secondary schools and universities, and participate in college fairs. The South Africa–bound group will attend the EducationUSA regional advising conference in Johannesburg as part of the itinerary.
Two-year, four-year and graduate institutions are encouraged to apply to be part of one of these delegations; most costs are covered by U.S. Department of State grant funds. Expected delegation outcomes include increased applications from international students to U.S. degree programs, the facilitation of more diverse study-abroad opportunities for U.S. undergraduates, and the development of partnerships between U.S. and foreign higher education institutions.
