Forum 2010 — the annual conference that leads the national discussion in education — will take place Oct. 27–29 in Washington, D.C. Participants will engage in informative, thought-provoking conversations with K–12 and higher education professionals, and key advocates for educational success.

The program’s roster of influential guest speakers continues to grow and includes:

  • David Gregory, named moderator of NBC’s Meet the Press Dec. 7, 2008. Since then he has covered the Obama administration from all angles, reporting extensively on education, the economy, health care reform, and the ongoing wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
  • Freeman Hrabowski, president of the University of Maryland, Baltimore County since 1992. His research and publications focus on science and math education, with a special emphasis on minority participation and performance.
  • Michelle Rhee, chancellor of the District of Columbia Public Schools, which serves more than 47,000 students in 123 schools. Before her role as chancellor, Rhee was CEO and president of The New Teacher Project.
  • Nancy Zimpher, chancellor of the State University of New York, who will give the Forum’s presidential address. Under Zimpher’s leadership, SUNY is ranked fourth in the nation for research and development investment, and boasts 440,000 students matriculating at SUNY schools.

Education leadership at all levels has never been more important. Discussions at Forum 2010 will encompass cutting-edge education issues and pertinent policies; grassroots and macro-level topics; community-specific strategies and solutions; education advocacy; and best and next practices in college admission, financial aid and college readiness. Conversations on leadership will stem from a strong belief that only the combined excellence of all professions can result in a top-quality education system.
