A team of almost 30 educators from across the country and the education spectrum gathered in Washington, D.C., earlier this month to evaluate and select session proposals for Forum 2010. For two days, the Forum Program Planning Committee pored over more than 250 proposals for an in-depth review of sessions on topics ranging from partnerships between K–12 and higher education and closing gender gaps, to college admission tips and federal financial aid policies. Sessions were grouped by professional disciplines such as teaching, admission and administration, and cross-professional teams performed the first round of reviews. Proposals went through a second round of reviews in groups arranged by professional areas to ensure that the selected sessions would be of the highest interest and value to attendees.

Pam Horne, assistant vice president for enrollment management and dean of admissions at Purdue University, and Joe Hairston, superintendent for Baltimore County Public Schools, served as co-chairs of the committee. They led the group in brainstorming exercises to identify critical hot topics that should be addressed at the Forum, and facilitated debate over specific proposals.

In the end, a varied and rich program was designed by the participants, who represent College Board member schools and colleges from across the country. To learn more and register, visit the Forum site.
